As Association Executive, was responsible for compiling information from member publishing houses and other affiliated groups, writing appropriate articles, and overseeing the production, editing and circulation of the association's newsletter two (2) times per year, and monthly E-zines. Maintained all database information of potential markets and members. Compiled and formulated all convention requirements. Supported the activities of the organization's standing committees. Participated in general and executive board meetings. HCA PALMYRA MEDICAL CENTERS

An administrative-level position that included directing a staff of three in a department responsible for hospital and physician marketing plans, advertising, internal and external public relations, communications, guest relations, in-service training and volunteer services. Functioned as a physician liaison to doctors within the city and handled their staff training and public relations needs upon request. (Promotional ideas were highlighted in national healthcare marketing magazines.) 1988 - August, 1992.

In book publishing from 1982-85, responsibilities were: to manage, train and motivate a sales force of 22 independent sales representatives; monitor and communicate with the "Top 50" corporate accounts; facilitate customer-service requirements; foster non-book-trade retail and wholesale accounts; stimulate business from catalog and mail-order sources; establish premium sales accounts; and assist in the development of marketing plans for the company. (Sales doubled the first year and grew steadily until the company was purchased by an affiliate of The Boston Globe in 1985.)

From 1980-82, owned and operated a public relations/communications company directed toward small businesses. In addition to in-house work done for various clients, did synopsis of made-for-television script; edit/rewrites of novels for GA and NC clients; extensive brochure/promotional writing and design; as well as resumé preparation.

Produced a one-hour, public-service television show and was co-host. Wrote and produced local commercials designed to client specifications.(1978)
